Dynamics 365 Business Central benefits from continuous and regular updates every six months to better serve the fast-paced business landscape.
The next major version updates for Business Central, called Wave 2, will be released this October 2019, but here is our sneak preview of what performance you can expect.
Improved Performance
The October release will include performance optimisation to improve the speed and agility of data entries, for example, importing hundreds of orders in just under two minutes!
It will also give users the ability to analyse database usage and how the system performs, including its extensions.

Pages Multitasking
With better performance also comes multitasking across multiple pages, which means that it will be possible to navigate multiple tabs independently while running various processes in the background.
At the moment, although this is possible, long-running processes can affect other tab sessions, but this will change.
Better Filtering for Reports
Filtering in reports allows users to select individual filters to visualise the desired data. Currently, filtering is limited to predefined fields only. Field add-ons are possible with the use of extensions.
The next release aims to simplify the complex filtering process and offer a better user experience similar to that of Pages.
Background tasks
A new option, page background tasks, will be able to run statistical data in the background without loading screens to show up the stats.
Users will save time by being able to open pages and execute tasks immediately while the statistics are loaded in the background. The statistics will only show when ready.
